  • Lavaret White Fish

    A species introduced by man into Lake Garda at the beginning of 20th century

    The body of this salmonid is fairly slender. Its back can be olive green, light brown or grey; the sides are silvery, the belly is white. The taste of this fish is exalted when it is grilled and simply dressed with Garda olive oil and sage.

  • EEL

    Lake Garda eel is elongated with cylindrical body. Its snout is fairly long, and its mouth has a prominent jaw and tiny teeth

  • Bleak

    Called by fishermen àola, bleak is a small cyprinid with a sleek body that for a long time had been one of the main foods for the families of Garda

  • Lake shad

    Lake shad has a bluish green back, silver sides and a white belly. In Lake Garda there are shoals of tens of thousands of lake shad all of the same age.
